DIY Solar Power Storage System Made Easy with the Seplos Mason Kit
What if the real power of your solar panels isn’t in how much they generate—but in how much of that energy you can actually keep?
Most homeowners waste more solar energy than they realize. But with a DIY battery built from the Seplos Mason Kit, you can store your own power, control how it’s used, and finally unlock the full potential of your solar system.
What Is the Seplos Mason Kit?
Think of it as your all-in-one DIY battery-building solution. With it, you can build your own 48V LiFePO4 battery with either 14.3kWh or 16.08kWh capacity—perfect for off-grid power setups like tiny homes, RVs, boats, or backyard energy storage systems.
It’s designed with simplicity in mind—no soldering, no welding, just clear instructions and easy assembly. If you can handle basic tools, you can build your own battery.

What Are the Options?
You’ve got choices! The classic Seplos Mason 280 is a stackable diy battery box system ideal for permanent installations. Prefer something more mobile? Check out the Seplos Mason 280L, a wheeled version for added flexibility.
Are Cells Included?
The standard kits don’t include LiFePO4 cells, but don’t worry, we’ve got convenient bundles available. These kits combine the Seplos Mason case with Grade A cells.
How to Build a 48V LiFePO4 Battery with the Seplos Mason Kit
Building your battery is surprisingly simple:
- Unpack the kit – Includes bus bars, BMS, screws, and housing.
- Stack your cells – Follow the manual to arrange them properly.
- Connect components – Secure the bus bars, BMS, and screen.
- Enclose and power up – Seal the case, connect to your inverter, and you’re good to go!

How Long Does Assembly Take?
First time building? Expect around 2 hours for your first 48V battery. The more you do it, the faster you’ll get. It’s a fun, hands-on project—and incredibly rewarding once you see it power up.
What About Battery Life?
This is where the Mason kit really shines. Batteries built with the Seplos kit have an exceptionally long lifespan—6000 cycles.
Even after reaching their cycle life, they still retain around 80% of their original capacity. That’s like having a “second life” for your battery.
High-quality components and proper maintenance are key to longevity. The Mason kit delivers on both fronts.
What Tools Will I Need?
Here’s what you’ll want on hand:
- Hex key (Allen key) – For tightening bolts
- Electric screwdriver – Speeds up assembly (check torque as you go)
- Insulation tape – For safe wire connections
- Multimeter – Essential for checking voltage and connections
Don’t have a multimeter? They’re cheap, easy to find, and incredibly useful for all kinds of DIY projects.
Can I Expand My Battery?
Absolutely. The Mason kit is designed for scalability. You can run up to 16 units in parallel, so adding capacity is as easy as building and connecting more units.
Depending on your cells, you'll get:
14.3kWh with 280Ah cells (16S1P)
16.08kWh with 314Ah cells(e.g. EVE MB31 battery Cells)
Choose the configuration that fits your energy needs.
Is a BMS Included?
Yes! The kit includes a Seplos 200A BMS (Battery Management System). This intelligent controller monitors your battery, ensures safe operation, and optimizes charging and discharging.
It comes preloaded with CAN and RS485 inverter protocols, plus Bluetooth connectivity and a dedicated app, so you can monitor and tweak performance right from your phone.
What's the Warranty?
1-year warranty on the Seplos Mason Kit
The warranty covers manufacturing defects and regular use. Just avoid improper handling, unauthorized modifications, or damage caused by negligence.
Size & Weight: What to Expect?
Here’s what you’re working with:
Mason 280 version: ~25.5kg
Mason 280L version: ~33.9kg
